What a grand celebration and a grand culmination to the Grand fashion Day.
While speculations did their share of rounds saying that not manymedia and guests would turn up for the additional day in the Fashion Week itinerary, the jam-packed first show of the day by designers Nida Mahmood and Little Shilpa put these rumors to rest!
Rightly tagged as the Grand Fashion Day, this added day to the fashion fiesta was certainly a true celebration and an evidence that fashion fraternity know well how to stand by each other in the bad and god times. Says designer Nida Mahmood, who was fairly happy after her show, “I am glad that you came and as promised I presented a fun collection on the ramp that didn’t disappoint anyone.”
Those who thought that their socialite and Page 3 friends would be busy on Monday being a weekday, they certainly were left surprised to see the buzz around that wasn’t even there during previous days. It was no less than a surprise to all to witness fully packed seats for almost all the shows that took place on the last additional day and adding to it, all the shows started well on time without any sort of delay. Well, this was indeed appreciable and a well noticed change at the fashion week.
But what about the buyers who had come from various parts of the world? Yes, the only thing missing from the Grand Fashion Day were the buyers, as most of them had flown back to their native place after the scheduled five-day event got over. But didn’t it affect the designers’ business?
Designer Ranna Gill, who showcased on the grand fashion day stated, “Well, I won’t say that business didn’t get affected but at the same time, much of it has been done pretty well over the last week. First day was a complete wash out but after the second successful start and great shows, we didn’t even bother to look back. We moved on with full confidence and faith in our fraternity and thankfully we got support from media and our friends too who came to watch our shows. We were furiously writing orders from buyers and business was at its best as always.”
Adding to it Leena Singh said, “I think everything went off pretty nicely and the designers who showcased on the last day got their due rights. Though buyers were a little upset but I am sure they would understand and won’t take back the memories of this fiasco back home with home.”
On a lighter note, Nandita Raipurani of designer duo Hemant-Nandita smiled, “When we saw Nida upset on the first day, we told her to be happy for the fact that she would now show on the finale day of the Fashion Week (the additional day). So in a way, it’s good for them to have concluded the event on a high and positive note.”
Well such are the spirits and faith that our fashion fraternity shares for each other. As the designers, models, fashion lovers and organizers would be busy letting their hair down and partying hard to bring this fashion hangover to an end, we just hope that next fashion week is well planned in advance with all mandatory permissions in hand.
